Rev. Bob Cooper
Tuesday Night Discipleship Class at New Church South. |
Rev. Bob Cooper was a lifelong resident of the state of Michigan until recently when he moved to Summerville, South Carolina. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather and decent trivia-game player due to the vast amounts of useless information stuck in his head, Rev. Bob is a gifted Biblical scholar and compassionate teacher. A graduate of Warner University and ordained by the Church of God (Anderson, IN), Rev. Bob has served congregations in Flint and Greenville, in ministry capacities ranging from youth worker to senior pastor. He’s been blissfully married to Michelle for over 30 years and together raised two U.S. Navy veterans. Rev. Bob enjoys hiking, movies, sitting on the beach, Jimmy John’s sandwiches and people who drive Jeeps. He loves all Detroit sports teams (Go Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers) and bleeds Maize & Blue for the Wolverines of Michigan (Go Blue).

OUR STORY IS GOD'S STORY. COME SHARE YOURS?
"I fell in love with this house before it became a home church. Passing by while walking my dog, during the morning mist, or twilight glow from the moon---I'd ponder her beauty. This house reaches out to welcome you. Its warmth, honesty, charm and beauty stood still waiting for the teacher, or preacher to open her heart, to the feet and souls, of passersby needing a place of caring and sharing. I never thought that God would be living inside...beckoning me...until I met Rev. Ian on the stoop one day, And he invited me to the first service on Easter Sunday. I tested Rev. Ian's commitment to opening his home to an assortment of weary souls shuffling through their days seeking love and honesty, when I knocked on the door 4 days early. Needing spiritual guidance and understanding. As the first member of his congregation sat before him, he listened with his ear and spoke from his heart. We talked for two hours. I confessed the feeling's of doubt and fear made my Faith wobbly. He walked me through parables and psalms quenching my thirst, and guided me along the path with his quiet strength, empathy and compassion. Until he affirmed what I needed to do. I may not have relinquished my fear of uncertainty and scarcity.....but at least I know now. When I get stuck.....God's guidance...is just a short walk away." Thank you ---R. B. Stuart |
